Who provides Housekin
CairoPlus provides Housekin (com.cairoplus.household) and its invited browser companion. Contact info@cairo-plus.com about privacy or deletion. No email/password account is required; private device credentials provide access.
Local use and optional sharing
Android stores your household locally. Enabling sharing or joining uploads household and member names, colors, capacity, chore titles, rooms, notes, schedules, assignments and completion history to our service in AWS’s Tokyo region, Japan. Authorized household members can access shared information. Avoid sensitive details in names or notes.
Device and invitation access
The service processes random household/device identifiers, device names, invitation records and access credentials. Raw device tokens are not stored on the server; a hashed index is used. Android protects its credential with the device keystore. The browser offers “Remember this device”, selected by default. With that choice, its access token is stored in localStorage; otherwise it is kept in sessionStorage. Tokens are not placed in URLs. Leaving clears browser access, and the owner can revoke a device. Invitations expire after seven days and can be revoked by the owner. Infrastructure processes network information needed to deliver and protect requests.
Retention and deletion
The owner can delete the entire shared home, remove members or revoke device access. Leaving revokes the current device; if no other devices remain for that member, the profile is removed. Removing a member removes their profile, device access and chore assignments. Household completion records remain without that member’s identifier. The service supports 2,000 events and may compact events older than 365 days when needed. Deleted server data may remain in backups for up to seven days.
Your choices and external copies
Sharing is optional; joining requires internet. Clear Android app storage or uninstall. In the browser, leave the home and clear this site’s data, including remembered access. Delete exported backups and shared files separately. Local deletion alone does not delete the server home. Google Play handles purchases under its own terms and privacy policy; deleting a home does not erase Google’s purchase records.
Other information
Housekin has no advertising and does not request birth dates, precise location, contacts or photos. Android reminders are optional and local. If you contact us, we use your email and message to respond; do not send invitation links or device credentials. The website contact form has a separate linked company privacy notice.
Owner recovery
An owner recovery key lets you restore ownership on a replacement phone. Keep it private in a password manager: anyone holding it can control the home. The key is encrypted on Android; the server stores only a one-way hash. Recovery replaces the key and revokes previous owner devices while keeping invited family access. Ordinary JSON backups exclude access and recovery keys. Without the key or the original phone, ownership cannot be recovered.
